GUFF

I have been using WBT for six years and this is the first year I have had to use the GUFF counter. It seems to be working well and I enjoy it. I have 3-4 students who like to back talk and moan and groan after an assignment is giving.

  1. Texas_teacher,

How did the rest of your school year go? Did you continue to use WBT throughout the entire year with them as you've done in the past? I'd love to see an update :)

  2. I love WBT and will use it as long as I teach. The GUFF counter did work. I also used the colored practice cards with three students. With one student he was just so intelligent that he would breeze through the work. Instead of making good choices with his "free" time he would talk and play and disrupt the class. What was interesting is that is exactly how he acted during the parent/teacher conference with his parents. He did not listen to dad or mom so why is he going to listen to me? My other student did not know how to take responsibility for her actions. She took almost all year to except her consequence based on her actions, but it was sporadic. Her grandma (guardian) did not think it was ever the child's fault. The scoreboard worked really well for 90% of the class. I am changing grades next year (back to 5th after three years in 2nd) and should be interesting with the bigger kids.
